"Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"

War of the Words: Scientist Attacks Alien Claims
By Robert Roy Britt
Senior Science Writer

Astronomer Philip Plait is tired of radio personality Richard Hoagland's claims. He's had enough of Hoagland's assertions that NASA is covering up evidence of extraterrestrial life, that the infamous Face on Mars was built by sentient aliens and, of late, that otherworldly machine parts are embedded in the red planet's dirt.

Hoagland's web site says this is a mile-long worm on Mars. Plait allows that this original image from the Mars Global Surveyor shows something that looks like a worm. But he has an explanation that doesn't involve biology.

The red planet "bunny." Did NASA digitally remove it from subsequent photos, as Hoagland alleges? Plait says the wind blew it away.

And then there's the mile-long translucent Martian worm.

On Hoagland's web site, there are several images from various space probes said to possibly show evidence for ET. Recent Mars rover photos include not just rocks, Hoagland and other contributors maintain, but common objects that might tell of alien civilization -- a bowl, a stove, a piston.

Hoagland has since 1983, he says, led "an outside scientific team in a critically acclaimed independent analysis of possible intelligently-designed artifacts" on other worlds, using spacecraft data from NASA and other missions.

Just a little tid bit to add from an account that I do remember way back in the 70's or 80's that I had forgotten all about. On TV they were showing pictures from a probe that had landed on the moon or a planet (not sure which). It showed a handful of pics. But in the last picture, something like a mechanical craft or object in the last photo was getting close to the probe. Then the probe went silent & was never heard from again!......... The man describing the pics. mentioned that it was not anything of ours that was in the picture & thought that it was Alien in nature!

Also, From what I know, This was the first & last time that this was ever brought up on TV etc.

Just thought that I'd mention this, Your post brought back my memory of this event!
