I'm from Erie, PA. It isn't a UFO hotspot, but...

Hi Woodsy,

Welcome to the board! Its way cool to see someone else from PA, I was born & raised in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, about 2 hours or less from Erie.

Hey Jenny!

You probably visited Presque Isle at least once during your childhood.. There was a "UFO Landing" there in the late 60's. I think it was uncovered as a hoax, but it did create a bit of excitement for a few days.

Hi Woodsy,

Actually I've never heard of it undecided I grew up in a very very small town, it was one of those towns that: you're born there, you die there, and I think the only times I got out as a child was our annual trip to Monroeville mall for an Easter dress. lol
But I will look it up on the net & see what I can find out on it.

Ghoulish Greetings everyone!

I'm a new member and I'm from Wonewoc, WI.

Does anyone know if they still have UFO Days in Elmwood? I tried to look up their website but can't find it anymore.

They do have UFO days in Elmwood but from what I've heard its little more than a community parade & party. Not much focus at all on UFOs. Check the "news" section of UFOwisconsin (http://www.ufowisconsin.com/news) b/c I think there may be a few articles on there about Elmwoods UFO Days.

Thanks for pointing me to the article on Elmwood.

We went up there in 1998 and spent the afternoon walking around. There wasn't much to see, but we did walk through a few shops and picked up a few novelty items. I was hoping there would have been more to it, like eyewitnesses talking about their experiences or a seminar or something. I was wondering if it had improved over the years and would be worth the trip up there. But it doesn't sound like it has changed much.

Is there anywhere else in WI. that has any kind of gathering for UFO believers and/or skeptics to go to? Is Dundee like the Elmwood celebration? I would like to go to something that is serious and has good information.

Dundee has Bensons Hideaway Bar/Restaurantk, that alone makes it worth going there! Bensons is a down home mom & pop establishment that serves the best pizza in the galaxy. Its located at the entrance to Long Lake, the area there is beautiful. Bill Benson, the owner, has a bar full of alien & UFO memorabilia. He also has stories of sightings that will curl your toes. We are heading there again May 1st to skywatch (I posted the info under "events"). They also have UFO Daze every year. As with any event, it depends who you end up talking to as to whether you get any real information or just fanciful far-fetched sci-fi tales. But its definitely worth going out there!
